Let me preface this review by saying that during the pandemic, when everyone was at home making sourdough and learning how to knit, my hobby was skin care. I went into several research rabbit holes, learning about the science behind different skin care philosophies, products, and routines.
I bought dozens of products, some of which I still use today but many of which I tossed after just a few weeks. So while I am by no means a scientist, I still consider myself pretty knowledgeable about skin care.
That’s why I feel qualified to recommend DermaSuction to anyone and everyone who deals with blackheads, whiteheads, or clogged pores on a regular or even just occasional basis. I LOVE this tool. It’s the best investment I’ve made in my skin care routine in several months.
All you do is turn on the power button and move the DermaSuction over your skin in gentle circles. It does all the work — sucking out the yuckiness — on its own. You technically don’t even need to prep your skin in any way before using it (although I would still recommend gently washing and drying your face first). Bye-bye, blackheads.
I’m no longer self-conscious of the clogged pores on my nose or the whiteheads that occasionally pop up on my shoulders. Thanks to DermaSuction, I haven’t worried about them in weeks.
I’m not normally one to buy from Bulb Head or As Seen On TV — I tend to be a bit skeptical about online shopping in general, actually. But one of my good friends recommended DermaSuction to me. She’d gotten it as a birthday gift and said she couldn’t believe how well it worked. Looking at her skin after a couple of weeks of using it, I have to agree. I could actually see the results of the Derma Skin on her, so I was immediately convinced that I needed to buy one for myself.
DermaSuction comes with four different suction heads, all of which are interchangeable on the handheld tool.
The one I use most frequently is the small head, which has a small suction opening. It feels like the gentlest option, so I like using this one on a day-to-day basis to make sure I’m not overly stressing my skin. I’d say I use it every one to three days just for maintenance purposes.
The large head has the exact same design as the small head but has a wider suction opening. I use this one for tougher blackheads, particularly on the thicker skin of my shoulders.
It works SUPER well to pull the gunk out of these tougher skin issues, but I’m wary of using it too frequently and over-stressing my skin, so I use this one as needed, probably no more than once every week or so.
This suction head is more angular, making it perfect for getting the corners under and around my nose. It also has a stronger suction force than the small head, so I stick to using it only every week or so, just like the large head. But I feel like it really clears out the skin around my nose, and I feel refreshed every time I use it. I wish I could use it every day, but I think my skin is happiest with once a week.
Finally, my favorite suction head. This head is textured around the rim of the opening, so it gently exfoliates the skin as it sucks out gunk. My current routine is to use this one hand-in-hand with the oval suction head.
First, I go over my face and shoulders with the silicone head, exfoliating and clearing out my pores. Then, I get in the corners with the oval head. Finally, I splash some water on my face and apply my most soothing moisturizer. I swear my skin has NEVER looked happier after I complete this routine. Everything feels cleaned out, refreshed, and moisturized.
Something I really enjoy about the DermaSuction is how easy it is to maintain/clean. I just pop off the suction head and rinse it out after each use, letting it air dry on my bathroom shelf before the next use.
Once a week, I’ll let all the suction heads sit in a warm, soapy cup of water and dish soap to make sure they’re staying hygienic. I’d compare it to the same level of maintenance required by my makeup brushes — spot cleaning them as needed, with more of a deep clean every week or so. It feels totally manageable.
One thing I’d change about the DermaSuction is that it’s battery-operated. I dread the day the batteries run out, and I can’t use this thing until I replace them again.
That being said, so far, the battery life has been very impressive. I’ve been using my DermaSuction almost every day for weeks and it has yet to run out, so I guess I can’t complain too much!
For newbies who might not know as much about skin care, or who haven’t given their skin so much attention, I’d recommend starting slow. Try it out once, and see how your skin reacts. If you enjoy it as much as I do, start using it one to three times a week.
From there, you can ramp up your use, assuming your skin continues reacting fine and you continue enjoying it. I’d also recommend using it on clean, dry skin. The suction heads are waterproof, and the instructions that come with the product say you don’t need to prep your skin at all, but just knowing that, in general, skin care tends to be most effective on clean, dry skin, that’s what I would recommend.
One really awesome thing about Bulb Head is that they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, even on cosmetic/skin care products like this. If you aren’t thrilled with the product after 30 days, even if you’ve already used it, you can send it back and get your money back. So, there’s essentially no risk to buying it and trying it out.
Even if I hadn’t seen the results of the Derma Skin for myself on my friend’s skin, I still think I would’ve been comfortable buying this product because of that money-back guarantee. In fact, I’ve bought several more Bulb Head products since buying DermaSuction and finding out about this return policy just because it feels so reasonable. I have yet to be disappointed.
Acne removal can be daunting — trust me, I get it. I’ve tried probably every product on the market to get rid of my clogged pores before I found this one. But now that I have, I can’t shut up about it. It’s not just super effective — it also feels like a really calming self-care ritual. Now that I’m used to taking care of my skin with my DermaSuction, I don’t ever want to go without it!
If this product used a rechargeable battery, I would give it a perfect five out of five stars. As it is, I give it a 4.75/5. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in skin care at all.
