I am a passionate home gardener. It feels like the world has gotten scarier and scarier over the past few years, and one of the things that calms me down and consistently brings me joy despite whatever else is happening in the wider world is tending to my plants. I started with basic flowers, but have since expanded to a vegetable garden and a focus on native grasses. It’s been such a rewarding and enjoyable hobby.
One thing that always stressed me out about gardening, though, is dealing with the hose. For the longest time, I used a heavy-duty hose because I thought it was best – I figured it would have the longest lifespan and minimal risk of bursting. But every time I use it, I end up accidentally trampling fragile plants, dealing with kinks, and otherwise experiencing a much slower rate of watering and gardening than I would like. It’s to the point that I started dreading going out into the garden to do my favorite hobby, just because this dang hose was such a nuisance.
I was complaining about this situation to a neighbor one day when she took me into her backyard and showed me the garden hose she had just bought. It was a Pocket Hose Copper Bullet, which I had never heard of before. At first, I thought it was a mini hose, and didn’t quite understand how it could possibly be convenient or practical to use. But then she demonstrated.
I’d never seen anything like this before. The Pocket Hose Copper Bullet expands and shrinks with use, almost like a sponge. When the spigot is turned on and the hose is filled with water, it expands to the size of a normal power hose. But as soon as the water is turned off and it starts to dry out, it shrinks back down and becomes much easier to coil, put into storage, and generally maneuver through the lawn and whatever storage solution you have set up.
Once I understood what she was showing me, I instantly knew that this was the solution to my hose problem. With the Copper Bullet, I could leave the hose out and it would shrink back down to pocket size in just a few hours, becoming much more easy to manage. I was immediately sold.
Once I bought my own Copper Bullet, I realized just how many other factors make this an extremely worthwhile product. First of all, as the name suggests, the hose is infused with copper, which makes it a more sanitary and safe source of water. If you have kids, you understand how impossible it is to prevent them from drinking from the hose. I’ve always been a little worried about the possibility of lead poisoning, or just generally that they might get sick from this habit.
With my Copper Bullet, I don’t worry about that anymore. It also comes in four different lengths, which I appreciated. I often find that “one size fits all” products really translate to “one size fits none,” so to me, it was an immediate green flag to see that there were length options ranging from 25 feet to 100 feet. If I decided to size up or down, I could just swap in my hose for a new one at the right length.
The lightweight material and portability of this hose make it so much easier to garden — but so does the fact that, from what I can tell, this thing is super kink-resistant. I’ve barely had to deal with kinks at all since I started using it. I’m not sure what the science behind the material is that prevents this hose from kinking, but all I can say is that it WORKS.
Dealing with annoyances like bugs in your face, getting cut by thorns, or a kinking hose are part and parcel of gardening – I’ve accepted that at this point. But it still sure makes things a lot more enjoyable when I don’t have to worry about those little nuisances at all.
I like to use my hose in shower mode when I’m watering my garden, but the Copper Bullet also comes with a Turbo Shot Nozzle, which transforms it into a high-powered hose perfect for washing the car or getting more distance on the spray. In fact, my husband – who previously never touched the hose – has taken to washing the cars every few weeks with it, just because he’s found the Turbo Shot Nozzle so effective. It really cuts down on the energy and time required to do a good job washing the cars at home.
I’ve only had my Copper Bullet for a couple of months, so I can’t speak to its longevity. What I CAN say is that based on how much I’ve used it so far, it seems to be living up to the claims of durability. I haven’t noticed a single rip or tear in the outside material, and from what I understand, there are a few layers of latex surrounding the actual tubing. Despite how lightweight and portable the hose is, it feels like a really well-designed, solid product.
Plus, I believe there’s a pretty good money-back guarantee, so even if something were to happen, I’m not stressed about getting my money back. It pretty much has all of the features I look for in a product to make me feel good about buying it online, even if I haven’t used it in person yet.
Once it arrived, I could tell that it was well worth the investment. The material has the feel and texture of a high-quality hose, and it works better than I could have possibly expected from a product that has so many other useful features.
If you’re like me and find yourself getting annoyed by how cumbersome, heavy, and inconvenient your hose is to use, don’t hesitate to give the Copper Bullet a try. To me, it’s more than just a well-made product. It has actually allowed me to enjoy my favorite hobby even more and removed a lot of the most stressful and annoying parts of gardening. I’m sure that if I loved washing the cars like my husband does, I’d feel the same way.
I also feel much more joy when I look out at my well-curated backyard and the tiny, neat hose all coiled up next to the spigot. It’s the same sort of satisfaction I get when my house is nice and clean and the candles are lit, or when my shoes are all organized and lined up in the closet. Having this hose is like a reward for doing something that I love.
Finally, I just have to mention the price. The Copper Bullet is currently on sale for $55, which, in my mind, is an extremely reasonable price for such a high-quality product. Again, I’ve only had it for a few months, so I can’t say this for sure, but I would not be surprised if it lasted me years. In comparison to some of the other financial investments I’ve made into my garden, this has been WELL worth the price, and honestly, still much cheaper than I would expect to pay – or have paid – for other gardening products in the past.
In conclusion: You can’t go wrong with the Pocket Hose Copper Bullet. I can’t stop raving about it, and I don’t ever feel this way about products. Do yourself a favor and get one ASAP.
