Walkfit Platinum Orthotics: The Perfect Fit – Our Review

When I turned 40, everything in my body started to fall apart. It’s such a cliche, but now I know it’s true: All of my joints have been aching. I wake up and my back hurts, and even my feet hurt after a short time standing.

It became too much to handle, so I decided to head to the doctor to get some advice on managing the onset of this joint and muscle pain. She recommended I see a podiatrist — and man oh man, am I glad I did.

First of all, I learned so much. Second, I ended up ordering a pair of Walkfit Platinum Orthotics, and they’re made walking and moving around a million times better. Sit tight and I’ll explain why in this Walkfit Platinum Orthotics review.

How Can Your Feet Affect Your Joints?

When I was at the podiatrist’s office, she showed me a diagram of how all of our joints and muscles are connected, especially through our legs. Problems with your feet and ankles can ripple through your joints to cause pain in your knees, hips, and lower back, and vice versa.

If one joint is misaligned, it’s most likely going to cause other joints to be misaligned, too. So, the trick is figuring out where the problem is, then addressing that to help out with any other aches and pains.

My problem was in my feet. Apparently ,I roll my heels when I walk, which puts extra strain on my calves and shins, causing a ripple effect through the rest of my joints. She even said that the back pain I experience when I lie down is likely caused by this tendency I have when I walk.

My doctor recommended I get orthotics for my shoes to prevent me from rolling my heels, so I took her suggestion and ordered a pair of Walkfit Platinum orthotics. Since then, everything has been different. I could not be more thrilled with how well these have worked for me, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who also struggles with foot and walking-related joint pain.

What Are Walkfit Platinum Orthotics?

Walkfit Platinum Orthotics are inserts you put in your shoes that cushion the impact of walking, jumping, standing, and more. They properly distribute your weight in order to not over-stress your joints and cup your heel to hold your foot in place while a cushioning gel pad under your foot absorbs shock.

These orthotics are the perfect size and shape to prevent my heels from rolling, and I imagine they’d also be great for anyone with collapsing arches, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, or the tons of other conditions associated with your foot alignment and positioning.

Choices, Choices, Choices

When I placed my first order, I didn’t realize it would come with three customizable inserts, but looking back I see that that’s essential to any type of orthotic solution. Everyone has different feet, walking cadence, and genetic predisposition to disorders, so everyone needs a slightly different insert to address their issues.

With Walkfit, you get three different customizable inserts — high, medium, and low arch support — so you can be sure to find one that addresses your needs while also fitting comfortably.

I ended up calling my podiatrist again and asking her which of the three she recommended I use, and I went with her suggestion. Since then, I’ve been able to walk and move around without joint pain, and it’s been a major game changer.

I didn’t realize how much my pain was impacting my overall mood and mental health until it was gone. Now, I understand why some older people are grumpy: Having constant aches and pains is not fun! Walking on these inserts makes me feel ten years younger.

Washable Fabrics

Here’s another thing I LOVE about this product: The inserts are washable! If you’ve used any type of orthotic before, you know that they pick up odors quickly. Honestly, anything that spends a lot of time in your shoes is going to get smelly, and it’s essential to have some sort of strategy in place to prevent the odor from becoming unbearable.

The fact that I can just throw these inserts in the wash with my socks and other dirty clothes is a huge plus to me. It’s just made it that much easier to incorporate them into my life and routines.

Durability

Despite the fact that they’re super comfortable and washable, these orthotics are also practically indestructible. I was so curious about what kind of material can do it all that I looked up what they’re made out of: “copolymer resin.” Apparently, it makes them super flexible and cushioned (sort of like memory foam) but also sturdy and long-lasting. I don’t exactly understand the science behind this, but I do know that it works — and that’s all that matters to me!

How Often Should I Wear My Orthotics?

One heads up that I want to give you before you buy these inserts is that you’re supposed to start off slow, only wearing them for an hour or so per day while your feet adjust.

I didn’t realize this at first and wore them for a whole day. It was so uncomfortable that I actually called my podiatrist again to ask her what was going on. She explained that they’re like braces: They shift the positioning of your feet slowly over time, and trying to force your feet into a new position all at once was bound to cause more aches and pains.

If you ease into using your orthotics more gently, your feet will slowly adjust on their own and comfortably transition into their new, healthier positioning.

So, definitely be patient with these. You want to be consistent in how much you wear them, but don’t overdo it. If your feet still hurt after a few weeks, or if you have any questions, definitely lean on your podiatrist or doctor. That’s what I did, and she helped me navigate the adjustment period and get the most use out of these possible.

How Much Do Orthotics Cost?

There’s one last feature I have to mention, and then I’ll get off my soapbox: the price. The price point on these is just unbeatable! $20 to get rid of my random aches and feel comfortable going for long walks again? I don’t think I’ve ever paid less for more in my life.

Custom orthotics can be extremely pricey, and I was totally blown away by what a cost-effective solution this was to my problems. And I don’t know if they include this with every purchase, but when I bought mine they added a few extra little gifts, including sandal inserts, acupressure inserts, and this peppermint lotion that smells absolutely amazing. It felt like I was getting a gift package for less than $20. I wish everything I bought online came with so many bonus items!
