Generac Speed Wash: Power Cleaning at Its Best – Our Review

A little confession: I hate doing yard work and chores around the house. I love the way my home and yard look when everything’s done, sure. But the process of getting there? Not so much.

Unfortunately, as anyone who has a decent-sized backyard knows, making your space look as good as you want it to takes a lot of effort.

One of my least favorite items on my yard work to-do list is cleaning the dirt and grime out of the pavement around my home. I have a small brick patio with a driveway and sidewalks between it. Every few weeks, I have to power wash the pavement to get rid of the dirt that accumulates in the cracks.

Power washing is such a time-consuming and labor-intensive task, but the payoff is so worth it. It’s funny, but I always get the most compliments on my yard and garden when my patio and walkways are clean. It’s like the sparkling clean look of the pavement brings out the greenery every more.

Needless to say, I’ve spent a significant amount of time researching high-quality power washers to make this task easier (and less dreadful) for me. I’ve tried out a few models over the years, but the best one I’ve found by far is the Generac Speed Wash. It works so well that I felt the need to sit down and write a review explaining to others just why I’m so obsessed with this product.

By the time I’m done, you’ll understand why I can’t stop raving about the Speed Wash and why you should get one as soon as possible — trust me.

What Is the Generac Speed Wash?

The first reason why I love this product so much is plain and simple: It works so well. I’ve never had a power washer that was quite as effective. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, the whole point of a power washer is that it uses a pressurized jet of water to force dirt, grime, crusted ice, and even mold and moss off surfaces.

You can get a regular power washer from hardware stores like Home Depot, and in my experience, they generally work the same way. Even the least expensive power washers I’ve owned have been strong enough to get the job done … but they also tend to take a while. It’s like vacuuming with a just-okay vacuum cleaner: You have to go over every surface three or four times to fully pick up all the grime and dirt. It gets the job done but at the cost of a huge amount of time and effort.

With the Generac Speed Wash, I only have to go over each section of pavement once. It’s amazing. I can’t believe I ever power washed and cleaned any other way. It’s so satisfying to direct the jet at the designated area and watch it blast away dirt and grime.

My Generac takes probably half the amount of time that my other speed washers would take, and it feels like even less because it’s so much more enjoyable and rewarding. I’ve used it to clean the sidewalks around my house, my driveway, walkways, patio, the siding on my house and crevices around the doors and windows, and even my car.

Adjustability

One of the reasons why the Generac Speed Wash is so handy and easy to use is that it comes with a few attachments. You can adjust the water spray coming out to meet the needs of whatever you’re washing, whether it’s a super thin jet to get the crevices between bricks on a patio, a wider spray to clean off your car without damaging the exterior, or something in between.

That flexibility and adjustability are HUGE bonuses for me. I’ve found that previous power washers tend to come in one mode. Either they’re designed to spray in a wider jet at a reduced pressure — i.e. they’re safe to use on glass, such as car windows and windows on your home — or the water sprays out in an extremely narrow jet specifically made to target crevices and small areas.

It’s been hard for me to find a power washer that’s able to hit both modes and also keep the quality that you want from a product like this. That’s why I was so excited (and honestly shocked) by what the Generac Speed Wash can do. The attachments don’t alter the efficacy or quality of the product, they just make it more versatile and useful.

Those attachments also mean that when you buy a Generac Speed Wash, you have the full pressure washing system at your disposal. Every type of attachment or spray mode that you might need from a power washer is included, no extra purchases needed. I don’t know about you, but that’s exactly what I look for when I have to spend the big bucks on something. A one-and-done purchase is perfect, thank you very much.

Pressure Options

The other feature I have to mention is that they offer a couple of pressure options depending on what you need.

The Pressure Washing System comes in 3200PSI and 2900PSI. I’ve found that 2900 PSI is perfectly sufficient for everything I need to do around the house. If I had a cleaning business, like the people cleaning dirty old rugs and carpets online using industrial-grade power washers, the 3200 PSI version would probably be best.

If you’re uncertain, I’d definitely recommend giving Generac a call or using their online support option to get advice from the pros. I used the online support to get the answers to a couple of questions, and it was super easy. They got back to me right away! For an expensive investment like this, I wouldn’t shy away from that option.

Price Point

Now, let’s talk price. The Generac Speed Washer is not inexpensive. Still, in comparison to other power washers on the market, I think the price point is reasonable for the product.

Unfortunately, as we all know by now, you get what you pay for. You might be able to save a lot of money on cheaper power washers, but believe me – from experience – they’re going to be out of commission in just a couple of years, and you’ll be forced to buy another one. Or you’ll be going over the same spot over and over and spend three times as much time getting the grime out as you might with the Generac Speed Wash.

So, that’s my opinion: I think this product is well worth the money. I know not everyone will feel that way, and that’s okay. Still, if you’re in the market for an all-in-one powerwashing system that works well and gets the job done fast, you absolutely cannot go wrong with the Generac.

Plus, the Generac Speed Wash comes with a really good warranty, so you know you’re in the clear if something ever happens. Personally, a solid warranty always makes me feel more confident in the overall product, so I was pleased to see theirs when I was initially considering making a purchase. I’ve had my Generac for several months now and haven’t had issues, but it’s still reassuring to have an added layer of security.
